Description of the stage and stretches

The sixth stage of the GR-208 “Cycle Loop Central Mountain” (Anillo Ciclista Montaña Central) leaves from the train station in Cabañaquinta towards the road AS-252 in direction of Laviana council. After 1,5 kilometres through this road, we turn left into a road that leads us to a water tank. Here it starts a historical road which goes down directly to Serrapio. From this village, we continue until Saint Vicente de Serrapio where we take the road which goes to Uriés.

From this moment onwards, we go up through a road during 1,6 km until we arrive at Uriés. Here we take the PR-205 which, going up through the Caleya la Fuente towards the outskirts, leads us to a wide track which goes up to the turnoff of the Pozo San Fernando (mining shaft), which can be visited. We continue going up through the main track towards Pindal and El Mayaín, always following the itinerary of the Uriés-Campa Espinera Greenway, until the ascent ends in Collado Ablanu.

Here two choices start. The hiker turns left surrounding La Burra Blanca peak and ends in Campa Espinera. The MTB cycle route goes ahead towards La Navaliega, where the GR-208 turns left taking a hard steep slope towards the Collada de Caballos. Once we reach the summit, we start a descent towards the Carva de Bustaleo. These are concrete road stretches which go up step by step towards Campa Espinera, where it is linked wi the hiking diversion. Here we find an amazing view over Turón Valley from Urbiés, crossroad point with the Greeway which goes to Figaredo.

El GR-208 “Cycle Loop Central Mountain” goes ahead towards Campa Cimera, unaware of all those crossroads such as the Ways of Turón or Meruxal. This is a constant descent which becomes quicker when we leave behind Tres Concejos Peak in our way to La Colladiella, which is the ending point of the stage. Here we recognise two landmarks which crown the place: the monuments to the Miner and to the Maquis.
